Taylor and Tonka : Reunited! Everyone knows how vacation plans can often go awry. Taylor and his dog Tonka were visiting from Oklahoma when Tonka wandered off and became lost. Fortunately, Tonka had a microchip and thanks to phone calls made by Suncoast Humane Society, they were able to get Tonka back to his owner. It’s hard to tell who was happier at the reunion – Taylor or Tonka. Having your pet micro-chipped improves your odds of a happy ending. Talk with your Vet or call the Suncoast Humane Society at 474•7884.
Anna on the rebound Pretty Anna was a starving and pregnant street dog when she was brought to an overcrowded county animal control shelter last December. She was on the shelter’s euthanize list in January when Stacy Clements and Todd Zimmerman from EARS Animal Rescue saved her and 4 other dogs from that horrible list. The other dogs were spayed/neutered, vetted and adopted out fairly quickly. Anna went into an awesome foster home where she gave birth to 13 gorgeous puppies in late January. Unfortunately, Anna’s tough times are not quite over as she has recently tested positive for Heartworm. EARS is having her treated and will continue to do so until she is cured. Anna is housebroken, approximately 2- 3 years old, weighs about 50 pounds and is a Terrier/Staffordshire Terrier mix. EARS is looking for a quiet home for Anna. She loves people, she is not aggressive to other dogs but doesn’t enjoy canine companionship at this time. Foster parents Grace and Rocco have done a wonderful job taking care of her and her large family of puppies. Grace is very willing to tell a new owner about Anna and her needs to adjust to a new home. Anna is learning to trust people a little more every day and is showing she is a very smart little gal. Grace has been working with Anna on obedience training and she is learning quickly. Anna has found out this week that she likes riding in the car with her head out of the back seat window. Could Anna be the dog for you?
