Rotonda West Completes New Community Center

Rotonda West residents arrived in droves on July 22 to view the brand new 8,000 square feet Community Center in scenic Broadmoor Park. The new building has a large main meeting room with two 70” TV sets and three smaller rooms, a library and kitchen and a priceless view of two large lakes in in the center of the Park. During the opening ceremony, Earl Haas, Chairman of the Community Relations Committee, recognized several individuals and organizations that provided special gifts. Pastor Carl Kaltreider, founder and past pastor of Faith Lutheran Church and the community’s Archivist, stated that many of the “pioneer people” – residents who have lived here since the 1970s – were present to celebrate the answer to a lot of prayers & many years of planning. The Association had offices and a meeting room in a small former 2-lane bowling alley on Cape Haze Drive for 26 years before outgrowing it. Residents contributed 526 pounds of food & $224 in cash for a donation to Englewood Helping Hand, Inc. “This center is a tribute to dozens of residents who participated in the planning & those who gave us their support,” said Russ Kulp, Association President. “We send along a very sincere ‘thank you all’.” Cutting the ribbon (l –r) are directors Hank Killion, Scott Schermerhorn, Russ Kulp, David Kelly, Peter Traverso, Andy Vanscyoc, & Stan Plizga, along with George Krabbe, member of the planning committee.
