Here’s another opportunity to learn about the Manasota Key offshore archaeological site. John McCarthy will be the speaker at the Smoked Mullet Award and the Englewood Legends Luncheon that is traditionally about Englewood area history on Friday, June 29. Mr. McCarthy is a member of the stakeholder team convened to inform and engage the local community about this important site. He is currently the Executive Director of Gulf Coast Heritage Association and Historic Spanish Point in Osprey. McCarthy is a native Floridian and has lived in Sarasota for most of his life. He has gathered a large volume of documents and stories related to Manasota Key history, and shares his knowledge at local venues. At the luncheon you will meet other influential members that helped shape Englewood history. The event is held at The Waverly Restaurant on Englewood Beach on Friday, June 29,11:30am – 1pm.
