Charlotte Co. Swimmers Break Relay Record

Congratulations to 4 Charlotte County Blue Fins, members of a record-breaking relay swim team. Evelyn Negrette, Daisy Marquardt, Caroline Aylward and Gracelee Lukas traveled to Stewart, Fl. March 9 to compete at the Florida Age Group Championship Meet. At Florida Age Group Championships, they were able to break standing team records in 4 different relay events with a total combined time loss of over 19 seconds. They broke the 400 medley record by over 9 seconds, and almost 8 off the 400 free. If that wasn’t impressive enough, they all had the privilege to represent Charlotte County Swimming on the National level. The NCSA Age Group National Championship meet was held the week of March 21st. Gracelee was an important part to both of the freestyle relays as she was the anchor. She set a personal best time of 26.35 seconds in the 200 freestyle. Anyone interested in joining or sponsoring the team can call 270•1348 and ask for Mary. Learn more about Charlotte County Swimming online or visit the Ann Dever Pool on San Casa Tuesday-Friday from 5:30-7:30pm. Shown here with their 3rd place 200 free medals: Gracelee Lukas, Daisy Marquardt, Carrie Aylward, and Evelyn Negrette.
