Richard A Ruzicka

July 6, 1934 - March 24, 2017

Richard A Ruzicka, age 82, passed away on March 24, 2017 in Port Charlotte, Florida. He was predeceased by his wife Rejeanne. Richard, known as Dick, was born in Bay Shore, Long Island, NY to Harry Ruzicka and Edith (Moorehouse). Dick was a long time resident of Columbia, Connecticut where he spent enjoyable time boating on Columbia Lake. Since 2006 he resided full time in Placida, Florida.

Dick graduated from Windham High School in Willimantic, CT. While working and raising a family he went to night school for many years and earned his BA degree from the University of Hartford. Through his dedication and by studying hard during his evenings at home, he demonstrated to his children the importance of education.

Dick worked for over 36 years for Pratt and Whitney on the F-100 program. He spent 3 enjoyable years working in Brussels, Belgium, for United Technologies.

He leaves behind his son Robert A. Ruzicka of Middletown, CT; his daughter and son-in-law Denise Ruzicka-Hayes and Paul Hayes, of East Haddam, CT; and his beloved grandsons, Clinton Hayes of San Francisco and Clark Hayes and his wife Whitney Hayes of Norfolk, Virginia.

A private family service will be held. Lemon Bay Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
