March 25, 1914 - October 23, 2017

George M. Rozelle passed away peacefully on October 23, 2017 at age 103. Affectionately known as "Coach", George was an inspiration to his family, friends, and countless young people, whom he taught, coached, and mentored through the years. George was born in Meadville, PA before moving to Ohio where he met and married, Pearl Denn, the love of his life. George was raised on a farm and was always a hard worker. He was a champion miler, boxer, and wrestler in high school and at Bowling Green State University, earning a degree in physical education. George served in the American Red Cross in the South Pacific during WWII. He worked as a YMCA Director, farmer, restaurant owner, teacher and coach. He and Pearl and their two children moved to Englewood, FL in 1963, where George continued to teach and coach wrestling at Lemon Bay Junior High School.

George is survived by his daughter, Ann (Michael Henry) Rozelle, his son, Dr. George R. (Mary) Rozelle, eight grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. His grandchildren are Gary Vasbinder, Kelly Ratcliff, Shana Haas, Rob Rozelle, Erin Misek, Shannon Rozelle, Dr. Rachel Rozelle, and Kelly Rozelle.

Services will be held on Sunday, October 29 at Lemon Bay Funeral Home in Englewood, FL. Visitation will be from 11:00 to 1:00, followed by a brief service. At 1:30 a Celebration of Life will be held at Quail's Run in Englewood. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Lemon Bay High School Academic Booster Club that provides tutoring for athletes that struggle in school.
