Carolyn J. Schaeffer

Carolyn J. Schaeffer, 78, of Englewood, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 25, 2018 surrounded by family. She was born on February 27, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio to Nathaniel and Beulah Lee Harman.
Carolyn graduated from McDowell High School in Erie, Pennsylvania. She relocated with her family to Englewood in 1981 and established a successful Real Estate career with Key Reality for 33 years.
Carolyn enjoyed volunteering with Kids' Needs of Greater Englewood and was an active member of the Jaycees while in Erie. She was an avid golfer in Englewood and in Linville, North Carolina.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Schaeffer, as well as her parents, brother, and sister.
Carolyn is survived by her son James; daughters Natalee (Phillip) Stutzman, Remle (Bud) Treasure, Laura (David) Dignam, and Mitzi (Gene) Dove; seven grandchildren, Kelly (Eric), Nicole (Bill), Ashley (Ashley), Brandon (Amanda), Josh (Gladys), Tyler, and Emily; and eight great-grandchildren, Garrett, Hayzel, Warner, Berkley, Ames, Lawson, Billy, and Savannah.
Carloyn was the family matriarch who loved spending time with her family, golfing, painting, reading, and shopping. She also enjoyed spending her summers in North Carolina.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Lemon Bay Funeral Home on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 5:30-6:30 p.m with a Celebration of Life service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kids' Needs of Greater Englewood Inc. P.O. Box 944 Englewood, Florida 34295.
