DetailsGarden Plant Sale The cooler fall weather is here and the Family Garden Club of Englewood (formally the Men’s Garden Club of Englewood) finds that their plants are enjoying the weather and they are still looking good. At the work sessions for the past few months we have been keeping all the plants “looking good”. We have a large inventory of great looking plants, and many varieties, for purchase. We have scheduled a garden plant sale for Saturday, November 18th, 2017 from 9:00am to 1:00pm. The garden plant sale will be held at Paul’s garden located at 1852 Whispering Pine Circle, Englewood, FL 34223. This street is located off of Englewood Road (highway 776) just next to the Lemon Bay Plaza. Check our web page at www.mgcefl.com for more details. Patrons may want to come early as some hard to find plants may be limited in quantities. Our master gardener, Jim Chandler, took inventory recently and reports that we have Golden Hawaiian Bamboo, Cordyline Fruiticosa, Bush Alamanda, Queen’s Wreath, Vanilla Orchids, Psychic Nut (Bellyache plant), Yucca, Cassia Bicapsularis and Alata variety. Other plants that will be available include Manioc/Tapioca, several varieties of Copperleaf, Bromeliads, Cranberry Hibiscus, Sanseverias, Bridal Bouquet Plumeria, Devil''s Trumpet, Lucky Bamboo and Snow Bush. Our plants are mostly grown and propagated from Englewood back yards. All are in pots and easily transportable. Some of the unusual plants are in limited quantities and many are rarely found in the "big box retailers". So, come early! Sorry to say we do not have any citrus trees. Our prices are moderate, ranging from $3 to $10 with a few specialized plants for $20 or more. As in the past, the plants were propagated for this sale to raise money to fund Lemon Bay High School scholarships and other local community projects. Stop by on November 18th and choose from many locally grown and native varieties of plants that have been raised and are looking for a new home in your garden. Once established, these plants provide beautiful landscaping with minimal care requirements. Stop by early for the best selection.
