ELVIS
I am on the record in this publication as not being a fan of Australian director/auteur Baz Luhrmann. Far from prolific, Luhrmann has still managed to direct two of my least favorite movies of the past 25 years, Australia (2008) and his last film, 2013’s heaven-help-me 3-D The Great Gatsby. I don’t care for Luhrmann’s tendency to favor flamboyant, over-the-top visuals over story and character development. I gave Australia one star and spent the last half of the movie yelling at the screen Rocky Horror style along with the four other people in the theater...
