Ortiz finds a furever home
One of the most rewarding parts of working with rescue animals is when that animal has found a new home with loving owners. Ortiz, who was given up by his owner, has just found his new furever home through EARS. A 2 ½ yr. old Havanese, he is a friendly little guy, and even with all of his skin issues, his new owners have fallen in love with him. He will be groomed, put on medication and a healthy diet and his new family said they will keep in touch with EARS so they can see his progress. HOORAY for Ortiz!!!
Critter Classic a huge success
Suncoast Humane Society’s 10th Annual Critter Classic held at Riverwood Gulf Club was a huge success thanks to community support. Golfers were greeted by title sponsors Donna Lapton of Modern Woodmen and Lyndsay Skully with Sunset Cadillac of Venice. Once breakfast was served and raffles were purchased, golf carts carrying 144 golfers rolled out on the beautiful Riverwood Golf Course, and the shotgun scramble began. After the scramble, golfers and volunteers enjoyed a delicious buffet lunch. Door prize and raffles featuring food and beverages, entertainment packages and golfing merchandise were announced. Suncoast Humane Society Executive Director Phil Snyder said, “We always have a great time when friends of Suncoast Humane Society get together at this annual event. PGA Pro Bob Ridge and the Riverwood Golf Club staff do a remarkable job for us. Donors, golfers, and friends collectively raised $34,000 to benefit our programs and services. This is an important fund-raiser for our organization and we hope to be able to expand upon it again next year.” More photos of the event can be found at www.humane.org. Suncoast Humane Society cares for homeless animals in Sarasota, Charlotte, the Boca Grande portion of Lee County and beyond.
