8/2/2020 4:56:00 PM Suncoast Humane Society takes in rescue from Puerto Rico
Suncoast Humane Society (SHS) is used to embracing the unwanted, last of the litter, animals. The trip to Miami to take in some of the many dogs and cats rescued from Puerto Rico revealed too many rescue organizations vying for the rescues. The team returned with just one frightened dog with a limp who was originally found leashed to a fence on the streets of Puerto Rico. He has been named Rico (chosen by SHS supporters.) Rico’s X-rays determined that his limp is due to a very old injury that did not heal properly. He tested positive for heartworm so he needs to go through treatment for that with lots of rest and TLC before he can go to his Forever Home. However, Rico is on his way to a much better life thanks to the supporters of SHS. If you would like to make a donation to help Rico, go to www.humane.org.
