Nola's Notes
One of Englewood Animal Rescue Sanctuary’s (EARS) great supporters presented a $600 check to the animal rescue on April 20. Carole Robertson of Gulf Life Realty Company also donates a portion of her commissions, and always steps up to assist with EARS’ events. EARS is funded solely by donations from the community; there is no agency funding. If you would like to learn more about EARS and/or make a donation, visit www.earsanimalrescue.com or on Facebook. You can also call 681•3877. Pictured at the check presentation are (l-r:) Shelly Phillips, Judy Winant, Mary Curtis, Shelter Manager Todd Zimmerman, Carole Robertson, and Sharon Green.

EARS Needs New Location
Englewood Animal Rescue Sanctuary (EARS) is looking for a new home. Their present Adoption Center at 145 W. Dearborn Street was owned by Peggy Hauptmann, the original founder of EARS in 2001. Ms. Hauptmann died in 2018 and the current owner of the property, her daughter, lives out of state and is selling the property. She has graciously let EARS remain at the property until now. The EARS Board is actively looking for a new location where EARS will be able to grow and help more pets in need. To be zoned as an “animal rescue” and not a “pet store” (which limits the number of pets helped,) the location must be at least five acres with or without buildings. This size location would allow EARS to help more pets that need new homes, offer the space needed for an outdoor play area, training area, a larger adoption center and more. Mary Curtis, president of the EARS board stressed, “The rescue is not closing; we are re-locating - we just don’t know where to yet.” Brian Faro and his team at Paradise Exclusive are assisting in the search for a home. EARS is funded solely by the support of the community, so if you are able to help them continue to care for pets and help fund the move to a new home, please visit www.animalrescue.com or call 681•3877. Please send any inquiries regarding the sale or new location to englewoodanimalrescue@yahoo.com. The EARS thrift store will continue to operate at its present location, 353 W. Dearborn Street, and appreciates donations of clothing and small household goods. Foster homes for dogs are greatly needed at this time.
