Radio and TV personality Psychic Medium Debra Housman will be at the VFW Post 10178, 550 N. McCall Road, on Saturday, November 6, 1 to 3pm. Come spend the afternoon at this benefit for Englewood Animal Rescue Sanctuary (E.A.R.S.) and the VFW Auxiliary. Tickets are $25 and are available at the VFW, E.A.R.S. thrift shop, 353 W. SHS Kayak Day
Suncoast Humane Society (SHS) presents Kayak Day on Saturday, November 13, 10am to 2pm, at Glass Bottom Rentals, 5810 Gasparilla Road in Placida. Take your choice from clear-bottom kayaks, stand up paddle boards, regular kayaks, and canoes. Cost is $50 per person; 13 & under are free. Purchase your ticket at www.kayakday.givesmart.com.
Business Pet Fosters Sought
Suncoast Humane Society is now offering a new twist on pet fostering opportunities. Companies can apply to foster a pet until a forever home is found. Anthony C. Leonard Roofing is the first business to foster by providing a temporary home for Tango, a domestic shorthair kitty. Tango is happy as a clam curling up in one of the office chairs. But he is available for adoption to anybody who falls in love with him when they stop in! The staff at Anthony C. Leonard Roofing enjoy his company and like to watch him make biscuits. Tango is a social butterfly, which makes him the perfect office kitty. When a company agrees to house an animal temporarily, they have Suncoast Humane Society’s full support. Animals get to socialize, stretch their legs and they make great company for the workers, all while hoping to find their forever home. It’s a win-win! Anthony C. Leonard Roofing is located at 99 S. McCall Road. Their operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. Tango is with the staff full time, so be sure to drop in and give him a head scratch!
