#BettyWhiteChallenge
Legendary actress Betty White, who passed away recently, was dedicated to helping animals. On what would have been her 100th birthday, Monday, January 17, Suncoast Humane Society is challenging everyone to pick a local animal rescue and donate just $5 in Betty White’s name. To donate to Suncoast Humane Society, go to www.humane.org. For Englewood Animal Rescue Sanctuary, go to earsanimalrescue.com. #BettyWhiteChallenge.

Furry Scurry 5K
The 2nd Annual South Gulf Cove Furry Scurry 5K is on for Saturday, February 12. All ages are welcome to join this Dog-Friendly Walk/Run in the South Gulf Cove Community at 14859 Ingraham Blvd. There will be a special 1.5-mile course for those Dog Walkers that feel the 3.1-mile course is too much for the pups. The Conservancy and Community Trust of South Gulf Cove is excited to be able to put on this Chip Timed event to benefit local Animal Shelters and Rescues. The proceeds will be donated to: Englewood Animal Rescue Sanctuary (EARS), Suncoast Humane Society Englewood, the German Shepherd Rescue in Punta Gorda, and the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida. There will be raffles with wonderful prizes so bring some cash. This race will NOT go virtual. Because this race is a fundraiser, there will be no refunds. Packet pick-up is 7am with a start time of 8am for runners, followed by walkers and then the Mutt Strut at 8:30am. Cost is $35 for the 5K and $25 for the Mutt Strut. To sign up, go to runsignup.com and search for South Gulf Cove CCT Furry Scurry.
