UF/IFAS Class Blast: Understanding Sustainable Seafood

The most environmentally efficient protein source on the planet comes from our oceans, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Fresh seafood.

But how do you know if the seafood you buy is sustainable? And, how do regulatory agencies make sure that fisheries are sustainably managed.

We’re here to help.

Join us at noon Sept. 17 for our free “Understanding Sustainable Seafood” webinar.

We’ll dive into the science and management policies behind this, exploring keys to thriving marine ecosystems that can provide vital food and resources, in this 45-minute, “brown-bag” webinar. We’ll take a closer look at efforts and tools to prevent overfishing and to protect key habitats. We’ll touch on the social and economic impacts. And, of course, we’ll provide you information to help you make a difference, by finding and buying sustainable seafood products.

Register early for this event, part of our monthly series anchored around the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. Other topics in this webinar series, co-hosted by UF/IFAS Extension offices in Sarasota and Manatee counties, include:
