New Masks For Englewood Elementary Staff

Teachers and staff of Englewood Elementary School, with principal Mark Grossenbacher (second from right, in back), show off a few of the 868 brightly colored masks that were delivered to the school on August 5. Seventeen members of two groups from St. David’s Episcopal Church, Daughters of the King and Episcopal Church Women, made the masks in a collaborative project they called “Mask-R-Aid.” The task was completed in just six weeks so the masks could be ready for all students, teachers and staff to wear as they begin the new school year. Fabric patterns were especially selected to appeal to kids—designs featured jigsaw puzzles, polka dots, birthday candles and balloons, animals, music and many other fun images. The coverings were made of 100% pre-washed cotton in four different sizes, from smallest to adult size, and are adjustable. They even came with a blessing! Reverend Vickie McDonald gave God’s blessing to the masks during St. David’s streamed church service on Sunday, August 2. Deacon Micki Thomas and Debra Sigismondo from St. David’s (both on far right) helped coordinate the project.
