Erma Bombeck - At Wit's End Opening at Charlotte Players Theatre and Starring Sandi Wood
"At Wit's End" premiers January 7.

Sandi Wood as Erma Bombeck

SANDI WOOD (Erma) is honored and humbled to have been chosen to portray Erma Bombeck. Since stepping on the stage as an 11 year old, I never dreamed I would be doing a one person show. But this show is special because I have learned so much about a woman who grabbed life and lived it with all of her talents and God given abilities. She was a caregiver for her family and a voice for hardworking women across America. I can only hope that I can use all the talent God has blessed me with! “After moving to Florida from Orchard Pack, New York I got back into theater in the 1980s. I was inducted into the International Thespian Society while attending Charlotte High school and graduated in 1991. I attended USF for my bachelor's degree in Special Education and Nova Southeastern University for my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. I became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst from the Florida Institute of Technology and I work at Charlotte Harbor Center as a behavior specialist. My first show with Charlotte Players was Plaza Suite as the bride. Paula Pender played my mother. I was seventeen and Paula has been my acting mentor ever since. Since then, I have performed with Charlotte Players, Crisp and Company, Royal Palm Players and Lemon Bay Playhouse. Some of my most memorable shows include Hello Dolly (twice as Minnie Fay), The Smell of the Kill, Annoyance, Harvey, Lend Me a Tenor, Steel Magnolias (as M’Lynn), and now At Wit’s End as Erma Bombeck. There have been many more shows and I have learned something from all them. I also work backstage as stage manager, costumer, property manager and have been learning lights and sound. I look forward to someday directing. I am grateful for all the opportunities and all the great people I have met along the way!”

Erma Bombeck, one of our country’s most beloved humorists, captured the frustrations of her generation by asking, “If life is a bowl of cherries, what am I doing in the pits?”
Starring Sandi Wood, this is the story behind America’s favorite average housewife who championed the lives of women with an incomparable wit that sprang from the most unexpected place of all — the truth.  Tickets On Sale Now: Box Office 941.255.1022 (Mon-Fri 10am-4pm Saturday 10am-1pm) Or Click Here.
