Think “Big Wheels” for grownups. The Leadership Englewood Class of 2020 originally had planned to have a unique event on May 16 at the Englewood Elks Club. However, like most everything lately, thanks to Covid-19, change is the one constant. The good news is, the adult trike bike races will happen September 19th. The pedal powered event will be held at the Elks with outdoor racing under a tent, along with music and dancing inside, food, a photo booth, chance and live auctions. The Leadership Class consists of 24 community minded “students” who together decided on this year’s Leadership fundraising event and the recipients who will benefit. Those include the Jubilee Center, Peace River K-9 Search & Rescue along with Vineland Elementary. This year’s events have included Celebrity Bartending, Feed a Healthcare Hero, a golf cart raffle and The Leadership Lightspeed Voice Lil’ 500, now scheduled in the fall. Tickets for the Lil’ 500 and the golf cart giveaway are available online at www.LeadershipLil500.com. Leadership Englewood, which is a Chamber of Commerce program, is designed to educate local business leaders about their community and the societal and economic challenges it faces. Armed with that better understanding, the individual can best determine how to be of value to the community and to affect positive growth and change.
