The Englewood YMCA announces the retirement of its Englewood Executive Branch Director, Marcia Ziegler. Marcia has served the YMCA in different capacities for almost 30 years. Starting out as a parent volunteer, she soon began to assist behind the scenes. When the Englewood YMCA was founded in 1994, she was hired as an employee and her responsibilities grew over time, helping the YMCA develop and implement ways to meet the needs of individuals and the community and has been Executive Branch Director since 2019. Kids are her passion, so one of her favorite programs is being able to support the Y Reads program to assist children struggling with their reading skills. She built relationships with donors to support the organization’s growth and organized the annual fundraiser, “Tropical Nights,” which has provided millions of dollars in scholarship assistance to those in the Englewood community. She has been instrumental in programs such as swim lessons through the Rotary’s Josh the Otter Water Safety Program, Back to School resources, and summer camp through Kids Needs of Greater Englewood. As a member of the Rotary Club of Englewood, she will soon chair the Englewood Youth Foundation; she serves on the Board of Directors for Kids Needs and was on the Englewood Community Hospital’s Advisory Board. In 2018, Marcia was recognized as the “Cause Driven Leader of the Year” by the YMCA Professional Network for inspiring and mobilizing staff, volunteers, members and community partners.
