The Toastmasters of Area 60 held their Humorous Speech contest on October 13 at the Shannon Staub Library. The audience listening to the 7 speeches presented by club members of the Venice, North Port, Port Charlotte and Englewood Club had a fantastic time. Each presenter had his own way to entertain the audience. David Ingram’s (Venice) speech titled “Florida Man” won first place. Second place was “Who Needs Turkey” by Brice Ferguson (Venice.) Amy Hibberd (Englewood) delighted the audience with her ”Danny Learns Spanish” speech and received third place. Congratulations to the winners - three memorable, comical speeches that delighted the listeners and made them laugh! The Englewood TM Club meets every 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at the Englewood United Methodist Church, 700 E. Dearborn Street, 6:30-7:45pm. The public is invited to attend the meetings. The mission of TM has always been to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn fosters self-confidence and personal growth.
