Rotarians and Elks save the day

Local Rotarians jumped into action on April 3 when a car hit the electrical unit at the Dollar General Store on Placida, causing loss of power. Rotarian Brad Ault of the Rotary Club of Englewood received a call from Carol Fournier, the manager of the Dollar General store on N. Indiana, asking for help with all the refrigerated and frozen food that was going to spoil. Brad went to work and called on fellow Rotarians to secure freezer space and determine where to donate it. LB Sunrise Rotarian Eric Fogo suggested the Elks Lodge might be able to provide refrigeration and upon receiving their okay, Brad and fellow club Rotarian Buzz Wescott, loaded up about 4,000 pounds worth of food that was placed safely in their refrigeration units with assistance from Elks’ Chef Doug. The food was then distributed to Englewood Helping Hand and Meals on Wheels for residents in need. A shout out to Rotarians for stepping up to get this problem handled and the food saved for use in the Englewood community!
