YMCA Back to School Bash Huge Success

The 15th YMCA Back to School Bash held at Sky Academy on August 1 provided students with the opportunity to obtain some school supplies for the coming year. In spite of doing things differently (drive thru, masks, etc.), YMCA volunteers and community helpers who care so much for the children and families in the community were able to make it happen. They gave away over 300 backpacks filled with school supplies, 300 free small fries coupons donated by McDonalds, 200 parent bags filled with food, toys and hand sanitizer donated by All Faith Food Bank, 150 library books donated by Elsie Quirk Library, 150 Publix gift cards and 150 bags filled with toiletries donated by Kids Needs of Englewood. The YMCA Back to School Bash is greatly appreciative of the donations and assistance by their sponsors: The Ormand Dixon Foundation, Englewood Rotary Youth Foundation, McDonalds, Hamsher Homes, Hamsher Realty, Living Hope Church, Kids Needs of Englewood, Englewood United Methodist Church, All Faith Food Bank, Hope for Lost Hearts Inc., Dollar Tree stores and of course, the Englewood YMCA and Sky Academy. Photo: Englewood Lions Club volunteers (l to r:) Roger Norrod, Kathy Lawless & Kathy Norrod assisted with the event.
