Marie (Simonian) Shammassian

Marie (Simonian) Shammassian, 85, of Englewood, passed away on Friday November 23, 2018 at Englewood Hospital. Marie was born February 8, 1933 in Lebanon. She was the daughter of the late Alexi and Haroutuon Simonian, and is predeceased by her husband, Boghos Shamasian.
She is survived by her aunt Anahed, her daughter Anahid; three sons and their families, Abe and Joan, Hrant and Shogie, and Haik and Michele; seven grandchildren and their families; Julie (Peter), Paul (Kelly), Berje (Akina), Marc, Tamar (Harout), Morgan, and Sean, as well as three great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Isabelle, Lilah, and a great-granddaughter on the way.
Marie was a kind and caring person who loved to spend time with her family and friends. She could constantly be heard offering food or coffee to anyone who entered her home. She loved to knit, sew, and show pictures of her children and grandchildren to anyone who visited, right after offering them a scarf she had knit. She is loved and will be missed by her family and all those who knew her.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday November 30th from 3-5pm, with a funeral service beginning at 4pm, at Lemon Bay Funeral Home, 2 Buchan's Landing, Englewood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, www.alzfdn.org.
