Gordon S. Dean, Ph.D

Gordon S. Dean, Ph.D., a 30 year resident of Wildflower Village Englewood, died November 8, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Kathryn MacEwen, the only girl of his life. He fell hopelessly in love when he saw her. They had three children. Gordon Kimble 1955, Nancy Elizabeth 1958 and Marney Jennifer 1964 and his beloved dog Tarbot. His summers were spent in his Ancestral Land, Prince Edward Island, Canada. 
Gordon K., a mortgage broker, and his wife, Brenda, live in Seattle, WA. Nancy E., an attorney, and her husband, Michael Nelson, retired judge live in Prescott, AZ. Marney J., an attorney, and husband, John Smyles, live in Perkasie, PA. 
Gordon was born July 27, 1930 in Dedham, MA to Murdock Henry and Mary Ann MacLeod Dean. His three sisters Ruth, Marion and Murdella all pre-deceased. 
Dr. Dean graduated from Dedham High School in 1948. He earned a BS and MS degrees from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1952 and 1954, respectively. He then received an MS in Chemistry at the University of Michigan in 1956. He was awarded a Doctorate in Chemistry in 1958 under Dr. F. F. Blicke University of Michigan. 
He was employed in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries for the next 25 years in research, sales, marketing, development, and production. He served as a VP of marketing and a VP of manufacturing and as well as a board member. He eventually became an entrepreneur. He founded Toxicity Research Laboratories in Muskegan, MI. 
He has four grandchildren: Cori, G. Christopher, G. Cameron, and Caitlin Dean all raised in Grand Rapids, MI. Caitlin was a graduate of Western Kentucky and a varsity member of the swim team. 
Dr. Dean was a life member of the University of Michigan Alumni Association, the American Chemical Society, a former member of the Society of Toxicology and
The New York Academy of Sciences.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
