Schneider, "Mama" Mia, 78, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021, at her home in Englewood, Fla. She emigrated from her native Belgium to New York, moving to Florida in the mid 1980s.
Mia was often self-employed so she could travel around the world with her beloved late husband, "Papa" Robert Schneider. She documented their adventures in her book "My Life With Papa." "Mama" Mia was also a philanthropist who volunteered most recently at Englewood Helping Hands, Lemon Bay Playhouse, and the Project Phoenix thrift shop. Fluent in Flemmish and French, she enjoyed playing the piano, tending her garden, swimming; and with her many friends eating out, playing Zilch and Yahtzee, sharing funny emails, going to plays, concerts and comedy events.
She was thrilled to be called "Oma" (grandmother) by a grandson, Joshua Berney of Tel Aviv Israel, his wife Rita and four great-grandchildren with whom she connected with last year. She is also survived by granddaughter Brittany Nuzzi of Vero Beach, Fla., a brother Guido, a sister in Europe, and was the widow of Nickie Nuzzi father of her deceased daughter Belinda and mother if Brittany and Joshua.
A celebration of life to follow. Published by Sun Newspapers from Apr. 12 to Mar. 31, 2022.
