Thomas J. Cox

Thomas J. Cox, 65, of Spartanburg, PA, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at his home. He was born October 5, 1957 in New Kensington, PA, the son of Arnold Cox and Delores (Hajel) Girard. Tom was raised and educated in New Kensington PA. After he graduated from school, he worked as a Conductor for Conrail, which till this day was his favorite and most memorable job. He then moved to Englewood, FL with his first wife Karrie (Huffman) Mcguirk. While in Florida, Tom worked in Real Estate for many years before transitioning to the IT field, until he moved to Spartanburg, PA to begin farming and raising alpacas, he continued this up until he passed. He attended the Midway Alliance Church in Spartanburg. He was an extraordinary man that spent a lifetime spreading joy, comfort, and blessings to every single person he met. His love for food, music, and the beauty of life will be sorely missed. He loved the outdoors and anything that came with it, hunting, fishing, hikes in the woods, canoeing but most of all the animals. If you were lucky enough to get the chance to meet Tom, you were automatically one of his own and you could always count on him to be there to help you no matter what.  Tom is survived by his step-father , Aime Girard; his wife, April (Cruz) Cox, whom he married March 10, 2012, In Titusville, PA; two daughters Lynde (Cox) Fitch and her husband Richard of Englewood, FL and Ayla Mercado. Of Okinawa, Japan; son Nyko Mercado of Pittsburgh PA; sister Arnall Cox of Englewood FL; three grandchildren, Aurora, Emery, and Luca Fitch; and his beloved dog, Doctor. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Friday, March 17, 2023, at Midway Alliance Church 6330 Oil Creek Rd, Spartanburg, PA 16434 at 2pm. Rev Eric Swartzbaugh will officiate.
