Sarasota County residents will have a new, no-cost option to safely dispose of hazardous household materials this fall. From September through November 2025, the county will provide a Household Hazardous Waste Curbside Pick-up service free of charge.
The program is designed for residents who are unable to transport hazardous items to one of Sarasota County’s Chemical Collection Centers. Materials eligible for pickup include a wide range of automotive products, cleaning supplies, paints, garden and pool chemicals, electronics, and other hazardous household items.
Accepted items include antifreeze, gasoline, motor oil, oil filters, automotive batteries, solvents, thinners, adhesives, paints and paint thinner, pesticides, fertilizers, pool chemicals, computers, printers, fire extinguishers, rechargeable batteries, fluorescent lamps, propane cylinders, and sharps (needles or lancets) when placed in a proper container.
Residents are encouraged to contact the county’s Hazardous Waste office to confirm disposal options for materials not specifically listed.

To schedule a pickup, residents must call 311 or 941-861-5000. Information about Sarasota County’s Chemical Collection Centers is available at www.scgov.net/hazardouswaste
