<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Just after 5 p.m. on October 26, 2026, Charlotte County Fire &amp; EMS rushed to a box truck fire near the I-75 off-ramp at Kings Highway.&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="800" height="600" src="https://englewoodreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/Box-Truck-in-flames-near-I-75.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-273343" srcset="https://englewoodreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/Box-Truck-in-flames-near-I-75.jpeg 800w, https://englewoodreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/Box-Truck-in-flames-near-I-75-300x225.jpeg 300w, https://englewoodreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/Box-Truck-in-flames-near-I-75-768x576.jpeg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><strong>Box Truck in flames near I-75.</strong></figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As firefighters approached, they spotted thick smoke rising above the highway. Engine 12 pulled up to find the truck completely engulfed in flames. Crews moved quickly and put the fire out before it could spread. The truck had stopped near the off-ramp, but traffic on I-75 wasn’t affected.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="800" height="600" src="https://englewoodreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/Box-Truck-in-flames-near-I-75-1.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-273344" srcset="https://englewoodreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/Box-Truck-in-flames-near-I-75-1.jpeg 800w, https://englewoodreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/Box-Truck-in-flames-near-I-75-1-300x225.jpeg 300w, https://englewoodreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/Box-Truck-in-flames-near-I-75-1-768x576.jpeg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><strong>Box Truck in flames near I-75.</strong></figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Nobody suffered any injuries. Right now, fire investigators still don’t know what caused the blaze.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It’s a good reminder to keep up with vehicle maintenance, look out for fluid leaks, damaged wires, or worn hoses, and fix mechanical problems promptly. Address strange smells, smoke, or warning lights immediately. Simple attention to these details can help prevent a fire like this one.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Engine 12, Engine 8, and Battalion 2 responded to the scene.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On the afternoon of August 22, 2026, a home on Knight Island (also known as Palm Island), just off Kettle Harbor Drive, went up in flames. Smoke rose over the water.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The only way to get fire crews and trucks to the location of the fire was by barge. Firefighters from Charlotte County and the Englewood Area Fire Control District loaded their gear, crossed the water, and got right to work.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">They received the call at 1:04 p.m. By the time they arrived, the fire had already spread through the entire house. Neighbors said it started with a golf cart charger sparking beneath the home, but officials haven’t confirmed that detail yet. We’re still waiting for the official report before drawing conclusions about the cause.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Two people at the scene refused to go to the hospital, and thankfully, there haven’t been other injuries.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">There has been an update to the story: The original story stated there were &#8220;no other injuries&#8221; and left out any mention of pets. Subsequent updates confirmed that one firefighter was injured and one cat died in the fire.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The situation is still unfolding. Fire crews remain on Knight Island, and we’ll share more updates as the details come in.</p>
