This project restored about 3.2 miles of shoreline, stretching from just south of Venice Inlet to just south of the Venice Fishing Pier. Construction replaced sand lost since the last renourishment in 2015, undoing damage from erosion and coastal storms. 

Crews also extended five existing stormwater outfalls, which keeps drainage systems working across the newly built-up beach. To make sure people could still enjoy Venice Beach, the team tackled the work in sections, leaving untouched areas open to the public during construction.

Weeks Marine handled construction under contract with the Corps of Engineers. Throughout the project, Mote Marine Laboratory managed environmental monitoring and relocated marine turtle nests to keep wildlife safe.
