On March 16, 2026, a house fire ripped through a single-family home. Flames billowed, smoke poured out, and crews from the Englewood Area Fire Control District rushed over after frantic emergency calls. They found the place engulfed in smoke and didn’t waste a second, as firefighters went straight into search and rescue mode.

First, they treated one person at the scene before taking them to a local hospital. Fire officials said the injuries came directly from the fire, though they didn’t immediately say how serious they were.

First responders acted quickly, keeping the fire from jumping to nearby houses. The home’s exterior took a beating from the heat and smoke, and inside, the fire left even more damage. 

“When a fire hits a home, we focus on the safety of everyone inside,” a fire spokesperson explained. “Our crews responded fast, making sure to help the injured and get the situation under control.”

Investigators still haven’t pinpointed what started the fire. The Red Cross was called in to help the residents who suddenly found themselves without a home.
