Luckily, a good-natured bystander stepped up and kept the goat calm until police could get there. Once on the scene, officers fashioned a leash out of whatever they had and tied the goat safely to a tree, keeping it out of traffic and out of danger.

Goats are relatively rare inside Cape Coral city limits. Officially, the city ordinances ban people in Cape Coral from keeping goats, pigs, or other livestock on standard residential lots. Still, now and then, someone hides a pet goat behind their fence, even though that breaks the rules.

Looking for goat farms or places to spend time with goats? You’ll need to head out of Cape Coral to find them: Lee, Charlotte, and Collier counties usually have more options for goat farms and petting areas.

If you recognize this goat or know who owns it, Cape Coral Police want you to reach out.
