Meteorologist Nikki Sheaks just announced she’s leaving WINK News for WPBF in West Palm Beach, a Hearst station. She shared her excitement on social media: she’s finally heading home to South Florida, joining the WPBF 25 News weather team as their newest meteorologist. Hard to blame her for the timing, as WINK’s weather team has been on shaky ground lately.

“I am so excited to finally get to announce that I’m coming home to South Florida,” she shares on her Facebook announcement. “I am thrilled to be joining the WPBF 25 News weather team as their newest meteorologist! It’s always been the dream to get home, and I am so thankful for the journey that finally got me here!”

Nikki Sheaks started as a news writer at WSVN in Miami, then jumped to Grand Junction, Colorado, for her first on-air gig as a multimedia journalist and meteorologist. Out there, she forecasted from the Aspen X Games and the Junior College World Series. 

After her stint in Colorado, she made it back to Florida, taking a job at WJHG in Panama City Beach. Nikki covered tornadoes, Hurricane Elsa, and Tropical Storm Fred, and even landed as a finalist for Best Environmental Story with the Florida Association of Broadcast Journalists. WINK News hired her next, where she tracked hurricanes Irma, Milton, and Helene. Recently, in 2023, she earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorology Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society.

Off the clock, Nikki’s at the beach, reading, playing tennis, or volunteering with animal rescues. Like Nikki says, she’s not just moving to a new station; she’s coming home.
