Thomas Henry O’Meara, 82, passed away on February 16, 2025, in Englewood.

Born on May 5, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, Thomas dedicated much of his life to hard work and service. He spent 30 years with Ohio Bell before retiring and later worked as a bridge tender in Venice, Florida, for 18 years. His strong work ethic and commitment to his career left a lasting impression on those who knew him.Beyond his professional life, Thomas found great joy in the outdoors. He loved camping, fishing, and boating- pastimes that brought him peace and happiness throughout his life.

Thomas was the beloved husband of Patricia A. O’Meara and a loving father to Thomas O’Meara Jr. (Linda Kobella-O’Meara), Dennis O’Meara, and Christine O’Meara. He was a cherished grandfather to Crystal O’Meara-Gilliland, David O’Meara, Nicole O’Meara, Chace O’Meara, and Chance O’Meara, as well as a proud great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren. He was the son of the late James E. O’Meara Jr. and Margret (née Reister) and the brother of Terrance (Debra) O’Meara. He was predeceased by his siblings James E. O’Meara III, Marilyn O’Meara, and Mary Catherine O’Meara.

A memorial gathering will be held in his honor on March 8, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Jockey Club House, located at 3050 Pan American Blvd., North Port, Florida, 34287. A second memorial gathering will take place on May 3, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Sacred Heart Church, located at 3049 State Route 45, Rock Creek, Ohio, 44084.

Thomas’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
