Sarasota County Schools has picked Mrs. Kelly McWilliams, now the Assistant Principal at Glenallen Elementary, to lead Wilkinson School as Principal. She officially steps in on Monday, February 16.
McWilliams couldn’t hide her excitement. “I’m thrilled to take on the principal role at Wilkinson,” she said. “We’re standing at the edge of some big, positive changes with the Future Focused Strategic Initiative. I can’t wait to help preserve what makes this school community special, and I’m ready to help us grow as we move toward a K-8 model.”
McWilliams comes well-prepared. She holds a Bachelor’s in Elementary and Special Education from SUNY Plattsburgh, a Master’s in Liberal Arts Education from Stony Brook University, and another Master’s in Educational Leadership from St. Leo University. She’s got a Reading Endorsement and certifications in Educational Leadership, Elementary Education, Exceptional Student Education (ESE) K-12, ESOL K-12, and English 6-12.
She took on her current role at Glenallen in July 2022. Before that, she served as an assistant principal intern at Alta Vista Elementary. She’s also worked there as an instructional coach, a behavior specialist, and a Grade 4 and 5 teacher. On top of that, she taught Exceptional Student Education at Alta Vista, Gocio Elementary, Dreams Are Free, and East Moriches Elementary in New York.
Wilkinson School is getting a leader who knows her stuff and cares deeply about the community.
