Sarasota County residents who received a new garbage cart as part of the county’s updated waste collection system have until June 30, 2025, to request a different cart size.
The county is currently offering an exchange period for residents who want to switch to a larger or smaller garbage cart to better fit their household needs. Requests submitted by June 30 will be fulfilled beginning in July.
To request a cart exchange, residents can visit SarasotaCounty.gov or complete the form at the following link: Request Form.
After June 30, cart exchanges will need to be arranged directly through the assigned waste service provider:
- North Service Area – Waste Pro of Florida, Inc., 941-340-0700
- South Service Area – FCC Environmental Services, 941-557-5040
Each residence is provided with one garbage cart as part of the annual solid waste assessment collected through property tax bills. Additional carts for residential use may be obtained through the respective service provider.
The cart exchange period is part of the county’s transition to a new, automated waste collection system, effective March 31, 2025. Under the new system, all waste must be placed inside the designated garbage carts for collection. Loose bags or items outside the carts will not be picked up.

Residents had the option to choose from 95-gallon, 65-gallon, or 35-gallon carts. Those who wish to adjust their selection now have a limited window to do so.
There are no changes to recycling or yard waste collection guidelines. Blue recycling carts will remain in use, and current yard waste practices will continue.
To find your designated collection day, residents can use the interactive map available on the county website.
The South Service Area, which includes coastal and eastern parts of Sarasota County, is now served by FCC Environmental Services. The North Service Area is handled by Waste Pro of Florida.
For more information, residents are encouraged to contact their service provider or visit SarasotaCounty.gov.
