Florida Grocery Shakeup: Publix No Longer Florida’s Top Grocery Store, ACSI Confirms

Publix, “Where Shopping is a Pleasure”

Publix holds a special place in the hearts of Floridians. From iconic Pub Subs to that familiar slogan, “Where Shopping is a Pleasure,” people here love their Publix. But things are changing. According to the latest American Customer Satisfaction Index, Publix isn’t Florida’s top grocer anymore.

The report looks at how satisfied customers feel across different industries, including supermarkets. This year, satisfaction with supermarkets slipped a bit—it’s down 1% to an ACSI score of 78. Inflation and tough competition are wearing on the industry.

Most grocery stores didn’t see much change, but three chains stood out: Trader Joe’s, Save A Lot, and H-E-B. Last year, Trader Joe’s and Publix tied for the number one spot, each with an impressive score of 84. This year, Trader Joe’s pulled ahead, while Publix stayed flat.

It’s remarkable because Trader Joe’s keeps expanding across the country. Usually, that kind of growth brings headaches—operations get stretched, and consistency suffers. Not here. Trader Joe’s has kept its signature customer experience intact, and its fans remain loyal even as new stores open. Publix, for now, will have to settle for second place.

Here is the full list of scores according to the latest report by the American Customer Satisfaction Index.
