Mayor 4 A Day Candidates Announced

It’s official! This year’s race for honorary Mayor of Englewood is on! Prospective mayors will raise money to benefit their chosen charities. This year’s candidates include Pet Samuels supporting the Englewood Food Pantry; Addison Morey representing Junior Leadership Englewood; Lucy White raising funds for the YMCA for a new playground; Ed Kinsey advocating for VFW 10178’s Veterans Relief Fund; Sonnie Hall supporting the Englewood Area Cancer Foundation; and Darla Mapes for Englewood Recovery Oasis.  The elected candidate will wear the Mayor’s sash during the Pioneer Days Parade and participate in other community events, serving as an ambassador for Englewood.

Committee Chair Jeannie Joyce emphasized that all participating nonprofits benefit directly from the campaign. “All the charities win,” Joyce noted. Over the years, the Mayor race has brought attention and funding to many previously lesser-known community organizations, strengthening connections between residents and nonprofits.

The first debate is scheduled for Tuesday, August 5, from 6 to 7:30pm, at the Englewood VFW, 550 N McCall Road. A taco bar dinner will be offered at 5pm, and reservations can be made at 941•949•7759.
