Embracing Our Differences has appointed Michaela Stockhill as its new engagement director, bringing extensive experience in education, leadership, and community development to the role. Stockhill will oversee volunteer coordination, community engagement programs, and year-round educational outreach designed to create enriching experiences for students, educators, and the broader community.
A Sarasota native, Stockhill has served for a decade as a teacher in Sarasota County Schools, where she also led one of EOD’s Coexistence Clubs, fostering discussions around empathy, respect, and civic responsibility. Her global experience includes serving as an international director in Costa Rica and a Peace Corps volunteer in Mozambique, where she developed programs integrating health education, service, and youth leadership.
In addition to her professional background, Stockhill holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a Master of Public Administration, and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management. Her personal passions include world travel, reading, and coaching softball.
For more than 22 years, Embracing Our Differences has presented its signature annual outdoor exhibition of 50 billboard-sized works of art and quotations promoting inclusion, kindness, and respect, attracting over 4.8 million visitors. The exhibition serves as the centerpiece of a comprehensive year-round education program that includes cultural field trips, reading days, student clubs, and teacher workshops, all aimed at building respect and community connection.
