Fightin’ Tarpons Hand Lemon Bay Volleyball First Loss

Lemon Bay Varsity Volleyball dropped its first match of the season Wednesday, falling 3-1 to Charlotte (25-20, 20-25, 25-13, 25-23). The Manta Rays slipped to 5-1 while the Fightin’ Tarpons improved to 4-1 with their fourth straight win.

Freshman Crew Collins led Lemon Bay with 9 kills, while senior Roxy Getter added 7 and senior Grace Wear chipped in 6. Setter Evelyn Swidrak paced the offense with 31 assists to go with 10 digs and 2 aces. Senior Natalie Googins anchored the defense with 17 digs, and Wear, Getter, and V. Kappelmann each recorded 3 blocks at the net.

Lemon Bay won’t have long to dwell on the loss. The Manta Rays head to Fort Myers on Thursday, September 4, to take on Bishop Verot in a 7 p.m. matchup.
