A Weekend of Words: Southwest Florida Reading Festival Returns to Lee County Library

Southwest Florida Reading Festival 2026

If you love reading, this week’s got your name all over it. Dr. Seuss’s birthday lands on March 2, and the Southwest Florida Reading Festival returns this weekend, an event that is free to the public.

The Lee County Library System is back with its 27th annual reading festival on Saturday, March 7, running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This year, the library has lined up 26 authors, all presenting live on their author stages. Several authors have topped The New York Times bestseller list.

And there’s plenty more. The festival’s free. You’ll find readings, crafts, food trucks, and many activities. Every kid and teen who shows up gets to pick a free book to take home, no strings attached.

This year, they’re making it even easier to meet your favorite author. Instead of waiting in line, just hop onto the festival app or scan a QR code on-site to join a virtual queue. You’ll get a text when it’s your turn for a book signing, so you can actually enjoy the festival instead of standing around.

You’ll find all the action on First Street in the Fort Myers River District. For more information, check out readfest.org.
