Habitat for Humanity South Sarasota County has opened the application window for its Homeownership Program, giving local individuals and families the opportunity to achieve safe, stable, and affordable housing. Applications will be accepted through August 29.
The program provides eligible participants with the chance to purchase a home through Habitat’s unique model, which combines affordable mortgages with community support and volunteer involvement. Applicants must meet income and residency guidelines and demonstrate a willingness to partner with Habitat by contributing “sweat equity” through volunteer hours and participation in homeownership education.
Interested individuals can apply online at habitatsouthsarasota.org/homeownership or print the application and deliver it in person to Habitat’s office at 280 Alligator Drive, Venice. Staff and volunteers are available to assist with questions and ensure applicants understand the requirements of the process.
Habitat for Humanity South Sarasota County has a long-standing mission of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. By helping families transition into affordable homeownership, the organization supports healthier communities, improved educational outcomes, and greater economic security for residents.
This application cycle is part of Habitat’s ongoing commitment to addressing the region’s affordable housing needs. With rising housing costs across Southwest Florida, the program aims to provide a pathway for hardworking individuals and families to remain rooted in the community while securing long-term stability.
Applicants are encouraged to submit materials before the August 29 deadline to be considered. Those selected will enter the program and begin the process of preparing for homeownership, which includes financial literacy courses, home maintenance workshops, and active involvement in the construction of their future homes.
