After months of uncertainty, the Arts Alliance of Lemon Bay has officially announced it will remain open, thanks to a renewed five-year lease and a groundswell of community support.
The news comes as a major relief to supporters of the nonprofit arts hub, which faced potential closure earlier this year. At the time, the Alliance made a public plea, sharing the very real threat of losing its longtime home on West Dearborn Street. That announcement sparked a remarkable response from Englewood residents and art lovers throughout the area.
“What happened next was extraordinary,” said representatives from the Arts Alliance. “The community showed up for us—in person, online, and in spirit. Whether through a membership renewal, a gallery visit, or simply spreading the word, people made it clear they wanted the Arts Alliance to stay.”
The organization credits this surge of support with providing the momentum needed to secure a new lease agreement and chart a sustainable path forward. Leaders emphasized that while the immediate crisis has passed, ongoing support remains essential.
“If your membership has lapsed, now is the perfect time to renew,” the Alliance said in a facebook post. “And if you’ve never joined, consider this your invitation to be part of something vital to our community.”
Membership forms are available at the gallery, located at 452 W. Dearborn St. in Englewood, and online at artsallianceoflemonbay.com/membership.
The Arts Alliance of Lemon Bay, which has served as a creative cornerstone for local artists and residents for years, says it’s now more committed than ever to its mission of fostering the arts and enriching the community.
“We’re here because of you,” the statement read. “And with your continued support, we’re here to stay.”
