Boca Grande Fishing Pier Launch Reopens With Limited Access

(June 30, 2025) — The natural canoe and kayak launch, along with the adjacent parking area at the Boca Grande Fishing Pier, located at 5810 Gasparilla Road, Gasparilla Island, officially reopened to the public Monday following partial site restoration.

The launch site, popular with recreational paddlers and nature enthusiasts exploring the waters of Charlotte Harbor and the surrounding inlets, is now accessible for use. Portable restrooms have also been installed at the location for convenience.

However, Charlotte County officials advise patrons to exercise caution when visiting the area. Sections of the pier and its approach walkway remain fenced off due to ongoing structural repairs and will stay closed until further notice.

The Boca Grande Fishing Pier has been undergoing phased repair efforts since sustaining damage during prior weather events. While no timeline for full pier restoration has been released, the current reopening provides much-needed relief for outdoor recreation in the area. For questions or further details, contact Lonne Moore at 941-613-3237 or via email at Lonne.Moore@CharlotteCountyFL.gov.
