Cape Coral Environmental Forum: Meet the Candidates Tonight, Tuesday, Oct. 20

Cape Coral’s environment takes center stage. On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, the Cape Coral Wildlife Trust (CCWT) and the Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife (CCFW) are teaming up to host a candidate forum focused squarely on local environmental issues.

The event happens at Rotary Park Environmental Center, 5505 Rose Garden Road, Cape Coral. Doors open for a casual meet-and-greet with the candidates at 6:30 p.m. The official Q&A kicks off at 7 p.m. and runs past 8.

Every candidate for mayor and city council has agreed to join, so it’s a prime chance to hear directly from them. Expect the discussion to dive into topics like clean water, Redfish Point, the future of the old golf course, conservation of burrowing owls and gopher tortoises, rat poison policies, and ideas for forming a citizen’s environmental committee. Grant funding and how to preserve open space in the city will also be on the table.

The forum’s free, and everyone’s welcome. Residents who care about Cape Coral’s natural spaces or want to quiz candidates about their plans should attend. For more details, check out ccfriendsofwildlife.org.
