Cape Coral Named Florida’s Happiest City: Englewood Locals Might Disagree

Cape Coral, Florida

Curious where people smile most in Florida? Turns out, Cape Coral just snagged the title of Florida’s happiest city, slipping past last year’s winner, Pembroke Pines.

According to WalletHub, Cape Coral claims 41st place among U.S. cities, with Pembroke Pines falling in at 42nd. Still, anyone who’s spent time in Englewood might argue it deserves the top spot, but maybe that’s a secret best kept from WalletHub.

Where you live shapes your daily mood more than you think. Psychologists have spent years tracing happiness back to a few basics: how you feel mentally, your physical health, friendships, job satisfaction, and whether you have enough money.

But here’s the catch: making over $75,000 a year doesn’t boost happiness any higher. That’s probably why the U.S., one of the richest countries, lands only at number 24 in the World Happiness Report.

Happiness doesn’t spread from coast to coast. If you want more joy in your life, a fresh address could really help, at least according to this latest WalletHub study. They looked at over 180 big U.S. cities and used principles from positive psychology to measure happiness. Their team weighed 29 factors, like how common depression is, how fast incomes are rising, and just how much downtime people really get each day.
