Car Pulled From Englewood Waterway Months After Hurricanes Helene and Milton Ravaged Suncoast

Car recovered in Englewood

Hurricanes Helene and Milton hit the Suncoast hard, and people in Englewood are still feeling the aftermath. On March 28, 2026, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office dive team and marine unit recovered a car that had been completely underwater in an Englewood waterway.

Divers found the submerged vehicle, strapped on inflatable airbags, and floated it up. Once it broke the surface, the marine unit towed it by boat to a nearby ramp. From there, Prompt Towing took over, pulling the car onto dry land and hauling it away.

It took teamwork to get this done, especially with the community already dealing with lingering storm damage and rising water worries. Helene and Milton left their mark on this region, and scenes like this remind us why recovery takes time.
