Catch the Creativity: Englewood Arts Waves in Local Artists

Englewood Center for the Arts

Have you checked out the Englewood Center for the Arts lately? If not, you’re missing out; the Center is buzzing with activity all week and into September.

“Down to the Sea”

First off, mark your calendar for September 1 at 10 a.m. through September 5 at 4 p.m. That’s when they’re accepting artwork for their “Down to the Sea” group exhibition. If you create in any medium and love nature, especially those Florida beach vibes, bring your work by.

Thursday, September 10, is a big day with two hands-on classes.

Coastal Glass Wreath

September 10, 2026, at 10 a.m., WhimSea and the Center are teaming up for a Coastal Glass Wreath workshop.

In just two hours and for $70, you’ll get every supply you need, plus a splash of “liquid creativity.”

No experience? No problem. You will learn a cool resin technique and leave with a gorgeous 12” wreath that you made yourself. To sign up, just call or text Yvonne at (941) 228-7617 and send in a $10 deposit to save your space.

Bedazzled Resin

September 10, 2026, at 2 p.m., stick around for Bedazzled Resin. This 2.5-hour class ($65) gives you the chance to paint, design, and play with resin.

Choose to create a sassy seahorse, a fancy flamingo, or a magical mermaid tail. Again, everything’s included, and no experience is needed, just your imagination. To grab your spot, call or text Yvonne with your deposit at the same number.

And don’t forget about the big opening reception for the “Down to the Sea” show on September 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. Everyone’s welcome. It’s a great chance to see the community’s creativity on display.

The Englewood Center for the Arts sits at 471 S. Indiana Ave., right here in Englewood, or call 941.830.6690.

We’re lucky to have such a creative crowd bringing these events to our doorstep. Go see what’s happening; you might just find your next favorite hobby, or at least a friendly face.
