The Englewood Men’s Senior Softball League wrapped up the 2026 winter season in late March with two teams repeating as division champions.
Englewood Moose Lodge No. 1933 won the Gold division for the second straight year and third time in four years with a 17 & 4 record. The team had 30 home runs to lead the league. “We had a large number of games missed by key players, but there is just no quit in this team,” said Mark Geary, manager of the Moose. “Repeating in the Gold division is very hard to do. But we have a solid, experienced team.”
Xpertech Auto Repair took the crown in the Silver division with a 14 & 7 record, which wasn’t decided until the final game of the season. “It was a tight race for first all year”, said Rick Silva, manager of Xpertech. “Several teams jockeyed in and out of first place all year long. It was a very competitive division this year.”
In the Bronze division, the Relics also repeated as division champions with a 17 & 4 record. “We had a very good year, with consistent play and good hitting every week,” said Greg Brezicki, Relics manager. “All Bronze division guys still love to play the game and have a great time playing.”
In postseason tournament play, the Placida Road Pub Pirates won the Gold division tournament, while Rotonda V won the Silver division tournament.
“The league had a great season all around,” said commissioner Scott Maresh. “And home run power in Gold, very impressive.” There were 106 home runs hit in the regular season, with Todd Widrick leading the division with 16 home runs. Tom Atkins, Gordy Powers and Brian Donehue were close behind with 13 each. Single-game records were set: 9 in a Moose–Placida Roadhouse Pirates game and a record 16 for one day. “Favorable winds, but mostly some really, really good players,” commented Maresh.
The league is open to all men 60 years of age and older, and each team plays 21 or more games from early January through March. “We also have a Spring and Fall season, and occasionally a Summer season as well,” said Maresh.
