Charlotte County Honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Life and Legacy

Rev. Ellison Haddock and Commissioner Stephen R. Deutsch

On Thursday, January 15, 2026, the Charlotte County Board of Commissioners came together to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and legacy, the date that would have been his 97th birthday.

Just a couple of days earlier, on January 13, Commissioner Stephen R. Deutsch handed a proclamation to Rev. Ellison Haddock, honoring Martin Luther King Jr. Day and everything Dr. King stood for: service, justice, and equality.

Thinking about Dr. King’s vision really brings things into focus. It’s about unity, compassion, and rolling up our sleeves to create communities where everyone belongs. That’s what the Board wanted to recognize — something worth remembering all year long.
