Charlotte County Public Schools just hit a new milestone, a 91.6% graduation rate for the 2024–2025 school year. That’s the highest ever for the district, up 4.6% from last year. It’s proof that the district’s efforts to help students succeed and actually plan for what comes next really work.
But leaders in the district don’t see graduation as the finish line. They’re all in on making sure every student is ready for whatever comes after high school, whether that means college, a career, or joining the military.
“A diploma matters, but it’s only one piece of the puzzle,” Superintendent Mark Vianello said. “We want every student to walk out with a plan, some direction, and a real sense of what’s possible.”

The district keeps pushing career and academic planning. They use resources like the Charlotte County Public Schools Career Planning Guide to help students, and their families figure out all the options after graduation, from career paths to the steps it takes to get there.
Teachers, counselors, and staff step up all year to keep students on track, make sure they’re set to graduate, and help them build a solid plan for the future. That means students get access to challenging classes, dual enrollment, hands-on career and technical programs, industry certifications, and one-on-one academic advising.
School Board Chair John LeClair says this graduation rate isn’t just about the numbers. It shows the district is focused on real, long-term success. “We’re proud of the achievement, but honestly, the real pride comes from what’s happening every day in our schools—helping students get ready for whatever’s next,” LeClair said. “Our goal isn’t just handing out diplomas. We want students to leave ready for their next step.”
